The treasures of His heart
Isaiah 39:3-6 NLT
Then Isaiah the prophet went to King Hezekiah and asked him, “What did those men want? Where were they from?” Hezekiah replied, “They came from the distant land of Babylon.” “What did they see in your palace?” asked Isaiah. “They saw everything,” Hezekiah replied. “I showed them everything I own—all my royal treasuries.” Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Listen to this message from the Lord of Heaven’s Armies: ‘The time is coming when everything in your palace—all the treasures stored up by your ancestors until now—will be carried off to Babylon. Nothing will be left,’ says the Lord.
There will be times when God shows you the secrets of His heart. He will share with you revelation and mysteries that are only for you.
It can be very tempting in all the excitement to go and blurt things out and show off the new found treasures.
Hezekiah couldn’t help himself. He showed off every treasure he owned, silver, gold, spices and oils to a foreigner! He actually directly opened up his house (his heart) to the enemy.
What was the result? He lost all that God had entrusted him with. What a disastrous mistake! While some things are to share, others must remain between us and God.
