The old promise is not dead
Genesis 45:25-28 Msg
‘They left Egypt and went back to their father Jacob in Canaan. When they told him, “Joseph is still alive—and he’s the ruler over the whole land of Egypt!” he went numb; he couldn’t believe his ears. But the more they talked, telling him everything that Joseph had told them and when he saw the wagons that Joseph had sent to carry him back, the blood started to flow again—their father Jacob’s spirit revived. Israel said, “I’ve heard enough—my son Joseph is still alive. I’ve got to go and see him before I die.”’
Jacob had not seen His favourite son in years and after being told he was dead he had completely given up that he would ever see him again. The promise of seeing him was so far from Jacob’s mind that he went numb when he heard the news. But not only was Joseph still alive, he was the ruler over the whole land of Egypt! What a surprise.
God wants to revive something that you thought was dead. If you have a promise or a desire you have given up on then don’t write it off just yet. You may just find something you lost showing up again or maybe God wants to resurrect a dream you have had since you were a child. Or like Jacob, you may even have a long lost loved one coming home.
Just be ready and expectant because an old promise may just surprise you as it’s resurrected and fulfilled.
