The moment of being afraid

1 Corinthians 2:3-5 (MSG)

I was unsure of how to go about this, and felt totally inadequate—I was scared to death, if you want the truth of it—and so nothing I said could have impressed you or anyone else. But the Message came through anyway. God’s Spirit and God’s power did it, which made it clear that your life of faith is a response to God’s power, not to some fancy mental or emotional footwork by me or anyone else.

When was the last time you were in this position, if ever? In a situation where you felt totally inadequate in your own strength to do what had been asked of you by God?

A time where you were in such lack, or so far out of your own ability that you were forced to completely rely on God and trust Him to move in a difficult situation?

This is ‘the moment of being afraid’ and it is in this place of ultimate trust that you will see the miracle working power of God like never before.

There are many ways this situation can come about. Sometimes this moment can come upon you very suddenly when you least expect it and you may find yourself in the spotlight fronting a crowd of people who are ready to hear about Christ.

You could be asked out of the blue to share your views at a business meeting, thrust on stage to perform a solo or lining up to kick the winning goal with all eyes fixed on you.

All you can do in these instances is pray for the right words or supernatural ability to succeed. These are the defining moments God uses to propel us forward into our destiny.

Don’t you love that! Now He will act on your behalf. You are out so deep that the water is over your head and it is God’s turn to make the next move.

You might be scared, but this is where it gets exciting. Just watch how He will move through you like you never thought possible.

“When I am afraid, I will trust in You.” Psalm 56:3 (HCSB)
