New grounds for believing
John 11:14-15 MSG
Then Jesus became explicit: “Lazarus died. And I am glad for your sakes that I wasn’t there. You’re about to be given new grounds for believing. Now let’s go to him.”
Jesus had a plan that was even much more profound and glorious than a miraculous healing. This is why He says He was glad He didn’t come earlier to heal Lazarus.
Everyone had seen Jesus healing before, but if that wasn’t enough, here we see that He wanted to do something new. Jesus desired to give them completely new grounds for believing in Him!
Although it’s better to believe without having seen, God actually wants to do something in your life that is more amazing than what He has already done!
This is very exciting because you have already experienced His goodness and faithfulness, giving confidence to your faith up until this point. Now however, you can expect new grounds on which to believe in Him. He wants to do something different, leaving you astounded and bewildered.
Expect your faith to be lifted as you see a whole new reason to believe in Him! If you ever doubted God’s love and goodness then His next move will melt you!
