Humility brings a God encounter
Daniel 9:20-23 (NIV) While I was speaking and praying, confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel and making my request to the Lord my God for his holy hill— while I was still in prayer, Gabriel, the man I had seen in the earlier vision, came to me in swift flight about the time of the evening sacrifice. He instructed me and said to me, “Daniel, I have now come to give you insight and understanding. As soon as you began to pray, a word went out, which I have come to tell you, for you are highly esteemed. Therefore, consider the word and understand the vision.
It’s so interesting to me that after Daniel takes responsibility for the sins of his people as well as his own, he has the most amazing encounter with an angel of God, Gabriel. Daniel greatly humbles himself. Therefore he is referred to by the angel as “highly esteemed” or “precious to God” (NLT).
His humility not only opens a door for this miraculous encounter, but gives him revelation and understanding concerning his vision!
Wow! What if we prayed like Daniel and took responsibility from our hearts for the sins of our nation?
What encounters would come from this? What secret truths would God be willing to reveal to us and entrust us with?
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)
