How can I help?
Romans 15:1-5 MSG Those of us who are strong and able in the faith need to step in and lend a hand to those who falter, and not just do what is most convenient for us. Strength is for service, not status. Each one of us needs to look after the good of the people around us, asking ourselves, “How can I help?” That’s exactly what Jesus did. He didn’t make it easy for himself by avoiding people’s troubles, but waded right in and helped out. “I took on the troubles of the troubled,” is the way Scripture puts it.
Wow! What a time to be stepping up and asking God, “How can I help? Lord, who will you put on my heart today that needs assistance in these current uncertain times?”
If we will listen to the prompting of the Spirit of God, we can be led right toward those who need our help, finding that God has given us exactly what is needed to serve them.
Ask neighbours, friends and strangers how you can help them too. It may be something practical like groceries or a phone call, or it might be reassurance and prayer, healing or whatever else their particular situation requires.
Jesus went out of His way to assist us so we should continue to do the same. Look for opportunities. Expect God to do miracles wherever He sends you. Keep planting in this time and later on you will reap such a great harvest for the Kingdom of God!
