Grab it by the tail

Exodus 4:1-5 (MSG)

Moses objected, “They won’t trust me. They won’t listen to a word I say. They’re going to say, ‘God? Appear to him? Hardly!’” So God said, “What’s that in your hand?”“A staff.”“Throw it on the ground.” He threw it. It became a snake; Moses jumped back—fast! God said to Moses, “Reach out and grab it by the tail.” He reached out and grabbed it—and he was holding his staff again. “That’s so they will trust that God appeared to you, the God of their fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.”

Moses was completely overcome by what the people might think of him. In his mind he had developed a scenario of how the people would react to what he had to say.

He had meditated on it long enough that he believed he would be rejected.

Have you ever found yourself doing that? Your thoughts running away from you until you’ve mapped out the whole response in your mind? Well, the fear of the peoples’ response ended up controlling his actions.

If you can relate to this then you had better grab that slippery serpent by the tail. That snake represents the lies that are manipulating your obedience to God and dictating your movements.

That enemy of ‘people pleasing’ has no authority in your life and is sabotaging your calling.

Grab that snake by the tail and watch it suddenly become your staff. Don’t let it be master over your life, but be master over that snake!
