Driven to hunger
Have you ever been in a position where there was no other option but to go after the things of God wholeheartedly with everything you had?
It’s like you were boxed in circumstantially and everything else you tried just fell apart and come crashing down?
This is precisely what happened to the Israelites! They found themselves in the wilderness until they were physically and spiritually hungry.
Deuteronomy 8:2-3 NIV Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord .
You maybe in this wilderness place now feeling like you’re going round a mountain. It’s OK. He’s just testing your obedience and humbling you (v2).
While in this place, hold fast. Draw near to God above all else and you will pass with flying colours.
But if your circumstances are pushing you forward and propelling you into your promised land, head through the open doors. Don’t grieve what’s behind you. Step into the new!
