Don’t let them discourage you
Isn’t it interesting that often when you are just about to enter your promised land and make headway, up pops someone or something to discourage you?
Numbers 32:6-9 NLT
‘“Do you intend to stay here while your brothers go across and do all the fighting?” Moses asked the men of Gad and Reuben. “Why do you want to discourage the rest of the people of Israel from going across to the land the Lord has given them? Your ancestors did the same thing when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to explore the land. After they went up to the valley of Eshcol and explored the land, they discouraged the people of Israel from entering the land the Lord was giving them.’
The Israelites were going across to the land God had shown them, but the tribes of Reuben and Gad decided they didn’t want to cross over into the land. They were content to settle right where they were with their many flocks and possessions. This seemed to Moses to be a repeat of the evil report brought on by the ten spies almost forty years prior, although their reasons for staying out were much more sincere.
Don’t be surprised if there are some people who are not coming on board with you or encouraging you in the promises God has for you. God may be sending these people on a different journey that doesn’t totally coincide with yours. That’s ok.
Sometimes you may even encounter people like the ten spies who completely oppose you by coming up against your vision as Joshua and Caleb endured.
God will still remain true to His promises for those who obey and are faithful to the end. Keep going forward and brush off discouragement from your life and soon you will enter the place God has vowed to give you. It’s your inheritance.
