Change of plan
Luke 9:10-11 (MSG)
“The apostles returned and reported on what they had done. Jesus took them away, off by themselves, near the town called Bethsaida. But the crowds got wind of it and followed. Jesus graciously welcomed them and talked to them about the kingdom of God. Those who needed healing, he healed.”
Jesus was planning on spending time alone with His disciples just as He desires to do with us. But others who were desperate for a touch from Him wanted to tag along and hear what He had to say.
Before long there were crowds following Jesus! This sudden change of plans may have come as a surprise to Jesus or maybe He already knew but whatever the case, He quickly adapted to the will of His Father turning a small gathering with His disciples into a big healing session.
We need to be flexible, adapting and moulding to what God has planned.
Maybe you have planned a small gathering with your inner circle and others appear at your door. Or maybe you are speaking to someone at a dinner and before you know it the whole table is listening in.
This influence may come when you least expect it. But the Holy Spirit will also come to transform what you thought was something small and quiet into a dramatic party of signs, healings and miracles.
You must be willing to surrender to Him and graciously welcome in anyone who is willing to hear about the kingdom of God.
