Australia on fire
As I watch these ferocious fires sweep across our land, my heart goes out to not only my family who have lost properties, stock and machinery, but the thousands of Australians who are displaced, afraid and grieving.
This is a stark reminder of just how precious every life is and how short our time here.
It’s also a reminder that material things we value can be burned up in an instant and to check our reliance upon such things. 1 Timothy 6:7 After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. It’s easy to get distracted by glamorous houses, fancy cars and special conveniences while subconsciously making idols of these things.
Anything that takes our time and focus off Him is an idol.
Psalm 135:15 (TPT) The unbelieving nations worship what they make. They worship their wealth and their work. They idolize what they own and what they do.
As we reflect on the situation around us let’s gather together in prayer and declare… By your mighty power I can walk through any devastation and you will keep me alive, reviving me. Psalms 138:7a (TPT)
