Acts of kindness

Luke 10:33-35 (NIV) But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’

What an amazingly selfless act by this Samaritan. He went above and beyond in caring for this man.

We are faced with opportunities every day to help others in need. Be on the lookout and ready to respond with random acts of kindness.

Be that neighbour. Don’t worry about who’s responsibility it is or who “should” help. Just be a neighbour to whoever needs one at the time.

Jesus exhorts us to “go and do likewise” (v37). He will divinely position us where there is need of a merciful act such as this.

Perhaps your name will one day be told from heaven in a story like this one.

In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16 (NIV)
